Commenting on the Government consultation exploring ways to ensure NHS Healthcare Managers can be held to account -
Dr Rob Hendry, Medical Director at Medical Protection, said:
“Healthcare managers have a huge impact on the organisations they lead. The culture, environment and behaviour of other staff are greatly influenced by their conduct and actions.
“When problems occur, the lack of regulation makes it difficult to hold managers to account - in contrast to the clinical workforce who are, by law, expected to hold high standards of honesty, integrity and openness and may be investigated by their regulator if concerns are raised. We welcome the Government’s drive to address this gap, and will study the proposals in detail.”

We protect and support the professional interests of more than 300,000 members around the world. Our in-house experts assist with the wide range of legal and ethical problems that arise from professional practice.
